Login to Public/Private VMware Cloud Console
Select Customer VM > Right click > Migrate

Select Migration type
1. Change compute resource only – Migrate VM from host A to host B without changing storage
2. Change storage only – Migrate VM from storage LUNxxx to LUNyyy without changing host
3. Change both compute resource and storage – Migrate VM to different host and change storage from LUNxxx to LUNyyy
***Noted before perform any migration***
1. Disable backup job before performing migration
2. If Migrate option is greyed out, meaning this VM contains snapshot
3. Make sure there is enough storage LUN/Volume space when performing VM storage migration
4. Make sure each LUN reserved 10% for backup snapshot

Option 1 – Change compute resource only
Select which host for the VM need to relocate, make sure Compatibility show checks succeeded

Next, select networks. It will automatically select destination network if match else change to any networks

Select vMotion priority, always using recommended

Click FINISH to start migrate

Monitor the process, changing compute resource has no downtime and it took less than a minutes to migrate the VM

To verify if VM migrate to different host
Select VM > Summary

Option 2 – Change storage only
Select Change storage only

Select the destination storage for VM migration
1. If you want to remain disk type format, just leave it Same format as source
2. If want to change to different disk type such as thin to lazy > select and turn on Configure per disk


Click FINISH to start migration

Monitor the process, changing storage resource has no downtime but it took minutes to hour depend on disk size of the VM

To verify if VM is migrate to correct storage LUN or Volume.
Select VM > Summary > VM Hardware

Option 3 – Change both compute resource and storage
Applied same to Option 1 & 2
