How To: Perform Migration using Veeam Replication (VMware Version)

Login to Veeam Console > Go to Replication Job

Create Replication Job

Select VM to replicate

Select Source, to make sure VM related is replicate from backup repository instead of direct replicate from production storage to avoid performance impact

Select Destination, you want to replicate or migrate

Next, select replica name suffix and restore point to keep

Next, select Data Transfer

Next, select Schedule

Finish

Make sure Replicate job task show Replicating restore point date xxx from backup repository, this is to make sure replication job is replicate from backup repository, also make sure the restore point is latest if you plan to cut off

Once done, you can perform Failover now, make sure source VM you plan to migrate is shutdown to avoid IP conflict

Next, select Restore Point you wish to failover, by default failover will select latest restore point

Next, click Finish and the failover will start

Once failover VM is power on, if everything ok, you go to Replicas > Active > right click the VM > select Permanent failover

***If failover VM got issues after test by customer, you can click Undo failover to shutdown the replica VM***

Once you click Permanent failover the replica VM, the VM will start to remove all the replica restore point to make replica VM ready to use status

Optional: To double make sure replica VM is permanent failover, go to VMware cluster > right click the related VM > Snapshots > click on Manage Snapshots

if you see there is no snapshot available meaning the permanent failover is completed

Done!
